Tree in Autumn

Tree in Autumn
Hand-dyed and commercial fabrics, mostly cottons. "Pillowcase" facing and back made before quilting.  All made on the sewing machine
The orange fabric below was made with rust-dyes resisted with copper pennies.
Approximately 16 by 14 inches, 40 by 35 cm

  1. kicking my feet through fallen leaves on an iron age hill fort this weekend made me want to come back and look at this piece again.i really like the way the rusty fabric is suggestive of the leaves falling from the trees or of a mistyness in the air

  2. Yes I like the rust fabric very much because of the disrupted lines and small random effects. I think the colours work really well and are cleverly balanced, the dark the pastel shades and the strong all tied in with the variegated thread
